Hey, loves!
Okay, so, confession time? I’ve never actually done a photoshoot on the street for any of my past blogs. I’ve usually chosen “safe” places: places close to my apartment or close enough that if I get too nervous I can just dart back in and hide from the mortification and embarrassment. Despite all of my so-called sass, I can be surprisingly shy and reserved when encountering new situations or new people.
With this particular shoot, I was with the Husbae on an errand for his job and he – brilliant man that he is – took the camera, beckoned me out of the car and – to my surprise – said we would be shooting this particular set of photos close to downtown.
It may not show but I was nervous as fuck, you guys. This was WAY, WAY, WAY out of my comfort zone. Usually, I’m the one working on a photo set, assisting a photographer or I’m leading a production team for a fashion show, directing the action (my past times are event coordination and management, and acting as a minor photography assistant; I just love learning about all the things that go on in the background of the fashion industry). So, I want to say for the first few images, my face looked like a dear caught in the head lights. Or super, super, super awkward.
I had to take direction from the Husbae, let him lead the shoot and direct. Funnily enough, he confessed he was kind of nervous doing it as well, but I’m pretty happy with the outcome of the photos. They look really awesome and I can check another thing off my list of resolutions for this year: “Do something that scares the fuck out of you.”
(I’ve quite a few of those coming up so stay tuned for that).
Anyway, enjoy the pretty pictures and let me know what you think.
Sincerely,
